April 1 meeting reminder

We will meet as a group on April 1 at 5:30 in the community room at the Sunderland Library. Please remember to bring any paperwork that you may still have and also a $500 payment made out to "Amped for Education."

In this meeting we will also decide as a group what types of extracurricular activities we are most interested in and talk about flight logistics. We can also talk about potential fundraising ideas. This will most likely be the last meeting we attempt as a group until June. Please try your best to attend!

Also, IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN OUR TRIP! Please keep asking/convincing friends and relatives to join us for the trip of a lifetime!

URGENT and meeting on April 1

Travelers--

Now that we have locked in the dates of our trip, June 25 through July 3, I need to collect the copies of your passports ASAP. Jeff has informed me that he needs these in order to book flights. It was something that we weren't sure we needed before. If you do not have a passport yet then a copy of your birth certificate or license will be fine. ASAP please.

Also, we need to have one more meeting as a group to collect another deposit and discuss together what sorts of things we want to do on the trip. Lets do this Monday April 1 at 5:30 at the Sunderland Library. There I will need to collect a $500 deposit made out to "Amped for Education."

I apologize for the short notice of these demands. If you have questions or concerns please contact Jeff or I.
To prepare you for future financial deadlines, here is a schedule for upcoming deposits:

April 1: $500
May 1: $500
June 1: $400

This will disperse payments in an orderly, easy to remember way and bring us to our $1650 total cost. Remember that the $100 deposit to "Pioneer Valley Travel" will be refunded to you after the trip.

Westfield State group returns from Nicaragua

Although we have no direct connection to this Westfield group, this article gives a nice perspective on the importance of service learning and talks specifically about Nicaraguan communities.

Trip dates officially set!

We had an opportunity to add a member to our group if we went during the earlier dates: 6/25-7/3. Since no one came forward with a decisive vote against the earlier dates, that's what we're going with! We have blocked off our flights with Pioneer Valley Travel and are moving forward.
If you have questions, conflicts, or concerns please let Jeff or I know. Keep your eye on this blog or see me in school for the next steps. Remember to get that paperwork in!

Meeting this Thursday 3/7, 5:30pm!

We will be meeting this Thursday to square away some paperwork for the trip and finalize some details. Please have a parent present if you are under 18. If you are unable to be at the meeting please contact Jeff or me.
Let's meet at 5:30pm at Primo's in town. Jeff and I will be there early if you would like to come and ask questions or if you are still considering coming along.
